Last year I was on a paved heavily wooded rail trail just going at it, miles from any little offshoot. It was getting hard to see, and I was getting spent as I was on my way back, and runing out of daylight. I hadn't passed any other cyclists/joggers/walkers either way in about 20 minutes... Then I see something walking right down the opposite side of the trail with its head down, almost like it was in a prowl. To this day I'm not sure if it was an uncollared/stray German Shepherd or a Coyote. Either way It stared at me and I stared at it with my heart pounding and we crossed path's. It turned to look at me once we passed and I did the same. And we both just went on our ways. It was the wierdest thing ever and definately got my adrenaline pumping because I wasn't going that fast anymore. Looked over my shoulder more on that trek back more than I ever have before.
