I'm not sure how you go with yachting or boating shops or kayaking shops, but various versions of non-padded gloves are made for these pursuits. I've used sailing gloves a lot because they are unpadded, but with a double layer of leather. Their price is comparable with bike gloves. The one pair of bke gloves I do have that are unpadded are a Fox brand, and were EXPENSIVE!

The problem with excessive gel is that it spreads the problem of squishing the flesh over nerves and blood supply.
