I actually had the president of the provincial cycling advocacy organization (who backed the proposal for a mandatory helmet law) use this reasoning in justifying helmet use to me.

For someone charged with advocating for cyclists rights, encouraging people to cycle, and to get those who do not cycle to respect the rights of those who do, I found this sad.
