Late spring/early summer is a good time, as is late fall or times of mild weather in the winter -after the skeeters have died off. Late summer can be really bad for bugs. Spring is bad when it's soft. I like taking day trips on the Katy during the winter if the weather is dry, but I am close enough to do that. Lovely trail.
+1. I only live 60 miles from Clinton and take several rides on the Katy every year. Are there mosquitoes********** Hells yes! You're by the river!
Like Sknsgy was saying, camping can get a little tricky too. You can pitch a tent at Les Bourgeois in the grassy area by the parking lot. They don't mind and you can get some good wine and food. I've pitched a tent under the small tree right off the trail in Marthasville. Other than that, the Rangers don't want to SEE you camping anywhere but in a camp ground. Personally I'm not fond of campgrounds...
I'm leaving for Marietta, GA on the 29th. I'll probably pick up the Katy on the 30th or 31st in Sedalia. From there to St. Louis, then South. Maybe I'll see some of you out there!
