There's a couple of users over here (UK) complaining of the same thing. Mineral Oil is a no-no, if it gets in your tyres or the gauge it's not funny. Often a very tiny amount of silicone or lithium grease on the diaphragm or O ring helps, but you have to dis-assemble the pump. Don't use too much.
