There are really no other seatposts out there with this much setback, so buying the same but longer is not possible. I'm thinking of taking it to my welder and having him add some length to it. Do you see any problems with that if it is a good weld? And is achieving the kind of smoothness needed at the weld possible as to not damage my frame?

You want to add length to the post by welding on to it? Crazy. How's the medical/dental plan?
