It was not a "buddy" ride, lol, it was a public event. Sure, I could pick some firends to ride with, like my wife, or just observe that all of the bikes, nearly all of them, are new cf or some aluminum from either Trek or Specialized. This may have been done to death, I just find it odd on a planet with hundreds of bikes manufactures past and present, 97% of the bikes are Trek and Specialized.

As to it being the rider, not the bike, whatever, I think you missed the point, it was not a race, it was a ride, there was no podium. The observation was as, see above, most all of the bikes were Trek and Specialized.

And, if one appreciates old equipment, IT IS THE BIKE, not the rider.

One other observation, not pertaining to the quote, but going back to when I first found this forum, it is very unfriendly.
