Nothing wrong with a high gear ratio depending on how you use it. 97 inches might be fine for a flat TT, but it seems too high for everyday riding, even for a very strong rider, unless you spend most of your time above 30 mph. I wouldn't want to ride that in stop-and-go traffic or in a nasty headwind. I ride hills with 81 inches...it makes me work hard but it is fast. With that gear I can comfortably spin at speeds approaching 30mph. Gear any lower and my average speed goes down...mainly because I climb at the same rate, but can't get down the hills as fast. I will use a lower gear if I want to relax a bit and am less preoccupied about going fast.
