It seems like the selling points of this over traditional rack is that it will work on full suspension bikes and bikes without rack mounting holes.

It may also be lighter than a traditional rack.

But if you were smart enough to buy a bike with a hard tail and rack mounting holes, there doesn't seem to be any reason to go this route.
