How about just leaving it. As long as the pin prevents the chain from dropping and jamming against the crank near the spindle than it's fine. Properly adjusted front derailleur shouldnt ever drop it off the outside anyways. With use it should be harder to overshift, not easier as ferrules/housing seat into their respective spots.
