Took transit this morning, and then after work dropped by Sixty Fiver's shop to pick up my bad weather/beater mountain bike. Only, it isn't a beater bike anymore. I had Sixty Fiver swap in some drop bars and bar-end shifters, and overhaul the drivetrain (new chain, cassette, rear derailleur, and bottom bracket). Gave it a good test run by riding home, 18 km. Whooooeeeee, that thing is smooth now. And I'm loving the drop bars. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.
There were thundershowers in the forecast, but when I left Sixty's shop, it was still just overcast. I wore my rain jacket anyway. 45 minutes later, still 5 minutes from home, suddenly the wind picked up and the heavens opened. Sure, the rain ran right off my nice new rain jacket, but I have to wonder what the point of rain gear is when I get so hot under it that I get soaked from the inside anyway. Felt bad seeing my brand new chain get wet on it's inagural ride.
