I'm going to try to explain this one more time. In a bike-car collision, the car is the safer place to be. No one is arguing otherwise.

That doesn't mean it's safer in a car than on a bicycle overall. Cars have collisions with things other than bicycles, and when you look at the accident data, you are in as much or more danger when you are in your car than when you are on your bicycle. The vast majority of automobile accidents don't involve bicycles, where clearly the car is safer. Most automobile accidents involve stationary objects or other motorized vehicles. Factor in the higher speeds, and the overall danger to a person in a car is equal to or greater than the overall danger to a person on a bicycle.

You keep getting hung up on what happens when a automobile hits a bicycle, that you forget that there are many other things that automobiles can, and do, hit.
I would love to see the accident data that supports the argument that driving down a busy road with no bike lanes is safer on a bike than in a car.
