I worked on a bike shop that focused on fixed gears. of all the parts we sell, I can name the vendors who made parts for those "boutique" brands, and frankly, those vendors originally made inexpensive parts. of good quality, but not as expensive as when they're labelled with those "boutique" brands.
it came to me as a surprise when I can get a similar crankset, minus the label, for a fifth of the those "boutique" brand price.
