Binder bolt was introduced from ca 1983 onwards and works better than the regular, but if you are in need for one, are maybe hard to come by with Miyata already having left US in 1995. I already heard from you about that screw. Glad you got it out.

However, the result is there and is there to be seen and enjoyed. It is a very unconventional build. Typical US style randonneur, with the French influences. That scene is very interesting and you do not have it here - Yet!

You haven't considered the original dynamo setup with roller under the rear tire and operation on back seattube?
Elev - if you can get me a binder bolt that fits this, I'd be very appreciative. I was planning on using a hardware store...but it would obviously be preferable to get the right part.

I think it will look a lot more traditional after it gets racks. I would never set up a bike with anything but drop bars because I just don't like them. I'm also not a fan of barcons...so the options were DT shifters or STIs. I'm a little worried that the STIs might interfere with a handlebar bag should I want one...especially with the narrow drops I chose.

I spoke with a lot of people in the touring and electronics forums, and all of them said most of the bottle generators that work on the rear wheel are not ideal. Pretty much everyone said a hub dynamo has a lot less rolling resistance and that they work better in the rain.
