I enjoy most descents as long as I am warm enough. I usually bring some clothes- a vest at minimum- to help keep warm. My ideal descent would be relatively technical but with smooth pavement and good sight lines. Which matches exactly nothing I've ever done. But the east side of Ebbets pass (California sierras) comes closest. The part of Mulholland (SoCal) from the ridge to the Rock Store is really fun, as is Mt Diablo (NorCal) when it's hot out and there aren't many tourists on the mountain.

On Mt Evans the seams across the pavement ruin what would be a fun descent, at least once you're down far enough that your brain is working again.

If your neck is hurting when you're in the drops for a long time, you can work on it. Mine used to but I got it stronger by doing wrestler's bridges and now it doesn't bother me. Instead its my back that hurts when I am in a tuck for a long time. That's mostly on Everest Challenge descents. Eventually I'll figure out some exercises for that.
