All of the Shimano bolt-on cable housing stops (the ones that bolt over downtube shifter bosses) and the braze-on (really weld-on) stops on both of my Litespeed frames are threaded M5x.8 mm. Also, the adjuster barrel in a Shimano rear derailleur is likewise M5x.8 and, as best I can tell, the adjusting barrel on a Campy rear derailleur is the same. Smart money says M5x.8 mm.
Yeah, does it HAVE to be replaced? Nope. Would I LIKE to have a carbon version that will be brand new - sure! Maybe after I build the bike and ride it, I will pick up a newer headset, just so the old one doesn't stick out!

Thanks, I'll try and find a Campy or Shimano set of barrel adjusters that should just screw into the frame.
