Plus, I'm not allowed to wear "cutt-offs" at work; we're required to wear hemmed pants on our deliveries. I had been using Carharts, but the cotton wears out too fast and they're pretty heavy. I've also tried BDU's (army camo) but they're pretty heavy, too.

I'd definitely buy another pair. The dude who makes them rides mtb's and delivers in Colorado. I met him in Fruita and seems pretty legit.

Hope that helps.
BDUs can make great cutoffs. I don't doubt you tried some that suck, the problem being that tons of folks make BDUs of varying quality from varying fabrics. My old cutoffs made from military issue poly/cotton BDUs were awesome for riding -- ripstop (esp good if you can't be bothered to hem), articulated knees, good fit, tough as nails.

Note there's also a difference between pre-made shorts/knickers and cutoffs made from pants. BDU and Dickies prefab shorts/knickers are ridiculously wide, but cutoffs from full pants fit much better in both cases.
