I haven't used insecticides in many years-mainly because they kill bees, and I don't want the neighbors cat or my dog getting contaminated by walking thru the plants either. Not wild about eating poison either.

Most drivers are ok with bicycles-maybe 2 % are actively jerks.
Bacallis Thuricide (sp) is a biological that is specifit for catapillars (bascially all worm like thingies). Innefective against beatles and aphids. (Useless against grasshoppers).

Turns out Earwigs are rather effective against aphids, only problem is they are omnivores and once they finish the aphids they eat the plants.
