"Yeah, I was only mildly shocked when I came across a group of foreign cyclists that said they were riding from Tokyo to Osaka, but when I noticed that they were all riding fixed gear bicycles, I was pretty impressed. You should look at their website and read their promotional material.

There was one guy with them who seemed to know a bit about Japan. He had lived here for a year and spoke pretty well. Another of the guys asked Chrissy if Suruga bay opened into the Atlantic or the Pacific...definitely a cast of characters.

It was fun riding with them through Numazu and owning the streets for a couple of minutes, but I realized that I could never, ever do a bike trip with such a big group. I would go crazy with all the poor communication that we were witness to in just the hour we spent with them. They were trying to get a moped to meet up with them, and keep the van on route, and use the bike path along the water, and riders kept on getting impatient and heading off on their own...

Anyhow, I'm interested to see their video when it gets produced!"
