Here's my story FWIW...
My wife and I decided to get ourselves some bikes... after trying out everything between a Towny to a Trek, I really liked the
GT Transeo 1.0 Disc... my wife on the other-hand wanted something more on the comfort side. She found herself liking one of the same bikes you have posted, but the GS version:
Schwinn Women's Sierra GS. She liked the comfort position, loved the seat, and liked the look (although she seemed to struggle just a bit with operating it from my view point). I recommended she slow down and try a few others before deciding (not that I had anything against the Schwinn, she just has a tendency to make shoot-from-the-hip decisions).
So on our way to look at the Transeo for me, we came across the
GT Nomad Sport Women's. She liked it more-so than the Schwinn and seemed more natural on it. So it seemed we found her bike. However...
I think she got a little curious about how much I liked the Transeo (tested a 2.0 they had in stock), so she tried one and she just raved at the way it just "goes" compared to the other comfort bikes. Although she did say the saddle was less comfortable, but she loved how "sporty" it felt and how "easy it rolled". So, she is now the happy owner of the
GTw Transeo 2.0 (no Disc & less expensive) and just loves it. As far as the saddle issue, she says she'll wait to see if she gets use to it or either get a gel cover or a different saddle.
I am actually happier she went that direction since we'll be doing a lot of biking together and she now has a more aggressive bike rather than the comfort one and we can keep better pace together. As for my new bike, well they were out of stock so I had to special order it. How fair is that, I do all the research and she end up with my bike while I still have nothing (for now). - - But I still am really happy she digs her new bike!
So my point is, maybe you should nudge your wife to try out other bikes, get her to test ride everything she can... there just might be something out there that stirs her passion, and it could be something she thought she'd never be interested in. But for the record, we are sold on the 700c over the 26s. And if anything, maybe the GT Nomad or the Transeo are few more for you to consider.
Hell, I actually started out thinking I wanted an Electra Towny... until I tested it and found out there is no getting up on that bike to pedal-pump. Not knocking the bike, just simply didn't match my riding style.
