I am a newbie, and no way under the sun am I going to leave my bike OUTSIDE all night. Bringing the bike inside should have been the ONLY option. Take that as a warning and count yourself as being lucky.

A lot of things could have happened behind leaving your bike an easy target for theives. What do you think would have happened if you came down and suprised the theif???
