i've been following this today, but note that everything i say will be third-hand. judith from the NYBMA went to bellevue and spoke to a co-worker of his:

his name is ali, ollie, or the like. we don't know him, but if anyone does, please pm me.
although badly hurt, his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening at the moment. hopefully this is one of those situations that look awful at first, but turn out to be not so bad.
