Yeah but if you're going to be substituting chains then where does it stop? Because by that logic you're be ditching half the group with either company. For instance, I'd too go with a Wippermann chain (probably the 1011... the TR is too extravagant even for me). I'd pick some other crank over any of theirs... probably the Stronglight Pulsion crankset. I'd try to mate it with an FSA MegaExo-ISIS BB (yes, I know FSA says it won't work but I think subsitution of the bolt may do the trick) and if that didn't work I'd go with Stronglight's Twister SL BB. I'd substitute in 0G brake calipers. I'd use Ronda Corsa wheels with a Wheels Manufacturing Accelerator 10 cassette. Headset would of course be Chris King. Seatpost would probably be Easton. I'd probably even use someone else's cables. So what am I left with that's either Shimano or Campy? Brifters and front and rear derailleurs?
