Yeah... I had a 6.9 Madone (2009) where the steerer broke after 1.5 months... the frame cracked in multiple places over the remainder of the season. I originally noticed the steerer issue returning from a ride when I had the clicking noise normally associated with a loose headset. I tried increasing the bearing preload w/o success. That's when I pulled the stem to find the steerer cracked from top to bottom. Took Trek 1-1/2 months during race season to get me a replacement.
