agreed. that's why i wanted to limit it to professional doping. it seems amateurs dope for more complex and difficult to explain personal reasons. for these reasons it may also be harder to deter amateur doping.
Wanting to win and willing to cheat to get there are not very complex or difficult. It gets murkier when someone believes that everyone else is cheating so they feel they need to cheat to be equal, but you still have to be willing to cheat.
