Yesterday, I got my first soaking on the way home for 2010. Prior to leaving work I checked online radar and then my coworkers started talking about the big storm coming so I got worried and headed out a little early. There was a bit of a downpour and so I took a few minutes to get my pannier covers out. I found one of them had the elastic band out of whack and was loosely fitting and that took time to patch up. So now the rain has subsided and I get going. A quarter mile later I catch up to the rain and I had to stop because the pannier cover was ready to fly off. Five minutes later I'm back on the road and getting wet, but decided to keep going.

About two miles from my destination the rain lets up and it nice an cool as the wind evaporates the water in my jersey. I ducked through a yellow caution light at my last intersection and thank goodness none of the drivers were in a big hurry to make a jackrabbit start.

Happy Commuting 2010!!
