Solar Powered Tent Light

Several weeks ago I purchased this solar powered garden light for no other reason that it seemed to be a bargain at $CAN5. On the way home I got to thinking that it might be a great light for my Hennessy hammock.

The unit consists of a top piece containing the solar panel, NiCad batteries and a single white LED bulb, there are three pieces you fit together for the stand, as well as a jar shaped reflector unit. I disposed of the latter and using an awl, pressed a hole for a hook in the top piece.

Later that same night I set up the hammock on my deck to see if it worked. Voila! The perfect solar powered light just in time for Earth Day (which is today!)

I went out and bought another one to use as a light for the entrance to the hammock.

To charge, just leave them somewhere on your bike. Has anyone else tried this?
