i had 5 flats in 2 weeks and a couple of broken valves from a cheap ass crank brothers pump that I paid way too much for! when i buy another frame pump it will be the road morph that people mention here all the time. After all these flats, I switched to armadillos and have had one flat in 3 months. I check them weekly to take out any little pieces of glass that may have found their way in . They are a heavy tire and not the most comfy but they are durable. I carry one tube, patch kit, and tire levers in a little bag that I can put in one of the pockets in my jersey. Presently I don't have a pump but I rely on either 1. a fellow good samaritan cyclist with a pump on their frame to come to my rescue or 2. if i'm in nyc proper I'm sure a gas station or some sort of bike shop is nearby.
