Surely "banning" was just a rhetorical device? We can certainly improve air quality more easily than reducing the sun's force, as shown by removal of lead from petrol and the massive clean up of London smog 1/2 century ago after 500 years of pollution.

And of course, geo-engineers are suggesting blocking the sun to reduce global warming [/shudder]
