I've been long dormant on this forum - I live in DC (Branch & Alabama, SE) and a combination of factors have conspired to bring me here looking for advice. I moved offices (now has a shower in the basement) and just got my vintage road bike back from the shop. Therfore, I need to start commuting again.
I work in Landover, MD, in an office park next to the New Carrolton Metro stop. I live in DC, just over the line from PG county, a 5 minute walk from the Naylor Road Metro stop. Taking Metro is 3x as long and 4x as expensive as driving my car. I'm all for alternative transportation, but really... come ON. I think it's about a 10 mile ride if I go straight there. Anyone here familiar with the roads inside the beltway & east of the river? I'm still looking for a good route that won't get me killed. I've been driving a few routes, but it's a bit hard to judge, and it's kind of hit-or miss if I'll actually find anything good.
