Are you sure your inner ring isn't 30T? Mine was. My old Bianchi Vig came with a 9-spd 11x27 Ultegra freewheel and I swapped it out for a SRAM 11x32: everything worked smoothly. I liked it.

I don't have that option now as I have Shimano's new 10-spd freewheel and a DuraAce 12x27 is the lowest gear that is currently available.

The cranks on my new setup is a 53\39\30. This works out better for me than the 52\42\30 cranks that came on my Bianchi. With a 53 top ring, there's no question about eliminating the 11T cog on the freewheel, which for me is a waste. Additionally, the 39T ring gives me a total of about 17 evenly spaced gears without any double shifting, and most of the time in the middle ring with just moving up and down the cogs.
