I have to mention that most of us are in the United States, which I suspect is a much more wasteful country than Sweden. Here it is very common for people to throw things away if they don't want them; they feel no obligation to recycle or even sell things. I have not been to Sweden, so perhaps I don't know what I'm talking about, but I just can't believe Sweden is as bad as the US in this regard.

Are there many apartment buildings in your area? I would ask building supervisors if there are abandoned bicycles in the basement; there probably are, and the building supervisor would probably be glad to see them go away.
