If your taint hurts, you either have a poorly fitting saddle or the saddle is not for you.
Pro fits can be quite expensive, but comfort is priceless in my book. I am willing to drop down a benjamin or two if it means I am not in pain while riding.
Cycling gear might seem silly to the casual rider, but the shorts, jerseys, and shoes are functional, not just there to look good. If you intend to keep with cycling, work on investing on good clothing, shoes, and bike accessories (saddle, pedals). It is well worth it.
