Yes, I think this is a good idea. Not all the time, maybe, but certainly as part of your regime. First of all, varying your routines is always a good thing. Second, this will probably improve the efficiency of your pedaling as well as making sure you spin up the hills. Third, no coasting. It's easy to underestimate how much time we spend recovering, rather than working, on a typical ride.
