Well, we're about to leave on the da Vinci on the AIDS Ride
Tomorrow, Kathryn and I take off on our 565 mile ride from SF to LA on the AIDS/LifeCycle 9. It will be our first multi-day bike ride on the tandem. We've been training hard and feel we are ready (she of course has more doubts that I). This will be my 14th year riding in this event (they used to be called the California Aids Ride before ALC, pretty much the same event but different organizers).
Because of my fatigue issues I've been dealing with this year and the fact that we are slower than I am on the single bike, we're going to take it steady and just enjoy the sights. Weather promises to be quite warm as we've been having a very wet and cold spring. Immediately after the ride, we fly out to Hawaii for a week with my dad who has recently been diagnosed with leukemia. It will be a fitting way to honor him and be with him while he still can.
I'll check back in a couple of weeks with many pictures and stories I'm sure. Hopefully the new Conti 4 Seasons will do just fine.
