No, I don't think so. I have the Sylvan Track pedals (the $30 ones) and the strap holes are tight - on purpose. They're intended to hold the straps in place nice and tight so they don't move. You'll see how with some other pedals people put a twist in the strap in between the entry/exit holes to create this same effect of holding the strap in place. I do it with my GR-9's. Try using a pair of pliers to pull the straps through. Should work. It does for me. Don't worry, while it looks like a manufacturing defect now, you'll appreciate it later.
