This might seem silly but I am sick of having a shed full of old bikes. Though I count about a dozen as personal bikes, I do want to cull the herd. It is difficult but must happen. When one owns so many bikes, keeping them maintained can actually suck up so much time that riding opportunities are few, and sometimes, far between.
This summer, I am taking a couple of months off from being bicycle guy. I want a break from selling bikes. I want a break from Bicycles for Humanity. I do want to spend time at my summer cottage and riding the lovely secondary highways that weave here and there through North Western Ontario. And I want to putter with my own restorations so that I have something to write about next winter for MY "TEN SPEEDS".
The problem is nice bikes keep showing up. I jokingly told my yard sailing buddy that today (last Saturday) I would not go home until I had five vintage road bicycles in the back of the Ranger. Well, by eleven in the morning, the target was met (got pretty lucky to tell the truth). One near mint Peugeot Course, one Norco Avanti SL, one Miele Uno LS, one Velo Sport Supra(this is one I have been looking for for forever) and a kids Jeunet road bicycle from the mid seventies(orange with black lugs). I would like to keep the Peugeot since it is Canadian and in great shape. I will keep the Velo Sport but the rest gotta go.
Now all I have to do is decide which of my other bikes will have to go to make room for the two I hope to keep.
