Forget dinner, go hit a movie or skate or something stupid where a waiter isn't staring at you and there's no pressure about ordering this/that/the other thing and have some popcorn and hot dogs or some pizza afterwards.

Go for a smooch at the end of the night. That'll be the litmus test.
