From what I could tell those were almost if not all due to impact with something... dont know if thats a fare picture of carbon...

was the pothole actually an open manhole cover?
I mean, I've hit some seriously large and deep potholes with my road bike with carbon fork before, but it never broke on me. I've bent a steel fork once, but that was because I T-boned a car at about 15km/h under heavy braking.
Its Portland, there was very possibly beer involved
