Bikes: two wheeled ones

got the actual details of the schedule I'd be working as a System Operator (electric grid, not computer system). It's a six week rotation, and it doesn't seem that bad to me. Could have its perks, might actually be good for training with all the days off.

All day shifts are 5 AM - 5 PM (usually more like 5:30 because of the handoff), nights are 5 PM to 5 AM (again, more like 5:30 AM).

Wk1: M T day, S Su day
Wk2: W H F day
Wk3: relief. usually you work a week's schedule for someone, they don't move you between day/night if at all possible.
Wk4: M T W nights
Wk5: H F S Su nights
Wk6: off

So you average 17.5 days every 6 weeks. I wouldn't be able to ride the bus, but I'd only have to park 17 days every 6 weeks, so it's not a huge deal.

Days that I work I would basically just work and then sleep. But on the days off I'd probably have plenty of time to ride and hang out with friends and stuff. I get a good number of weekends off, plus if you take 2 days of vacation you can suddenly have 2 weeks off in a row.

I'll have to see how big of a pay cut it is, it's likely to be substantial, so that's definitely a downside.
