I have a Trek 7.5fx and I'm looking to get new pedals. I have a pair of Shimano MT-31 shoes that I've been using just for the support of the stiff soles. The original pedals that came with the bike a digging a groove into my sole. I want a combo pedal, because, unfortunately most of my riding is done within 10-15 miles of my house, and it's all stop signs and lights every half mile (or more!) so I'd like to stay with a platform for that, but have the ability to clip in when I can get out on the open road, or paved trails, I plan to do a 63 mile, and 100 mile ride this year as well.
I'd like the boost that clipless give but I don't want to have that as my only option or switch pedals all of the time.
I started looking at the Shimano m324's but I've been looking online and I've found the Wellgo C002 which are virtually the same (with out the "teeth" along the edge, and rubber platforms on the plain side), or the Wellgo WAM-d10 which are like a mountain bike platform with the clip on one side. The C002 are supposed to have 4 degree float, but I'm not sure about the d10's. I think I should have the float because I have one knee that acts up if I push it too hard. I'm on a limited budget, and the Wellgo's are half the price of the Shimano's.
My head is spinning trying to figure out what I should get, and which online vendor I should trust (the best price on the Wellgos is from an ebay vendor named abaxo.
Can anybody help me make any sense of this?
