Should be through a wireless or RF signal. My Garmin Forerunner 301 watch is mounted on my bike using a bike mount I had to buy, which is included with the Polar. Works well for me. Only thing is my chest strap needs moisture between my chest and the strap's sensor to work, but that's no problem once I start spinning!
