I have a very hairy chest & I had problems getting my HRM to get a read. I tried all sorts of moistures/gels but the hair was too thick. I ended up having to shave a strip so that the sensor works. Now it goes without the need for anything extra. It does make me look like a wally on the beach now though, as I have a racing stripe across my chest - you think people will know I'm a cyclist??
