A custom frame starts at about $1500-2000. Sure, it won't "weigh less than a fart and cost more than a divorce" like the fancy CF bikes. But it will be the most comfortable, useful, and fastest bike you ever owned.
Well, I disagree with this. Not everyone needs a custom frame. For the people that need a custom, there is no substitute; but the majority of people can use a stock frame and with the right stem length and angle can get the bike to fit them.
As for frame material, that is a personal choice.
