I've thrown a chain and unthreaded my cog twice, both downhill. It wasn't that big a deal, I just unclipped and put my feet down to stop. Since all three instances happened within a month I have a strange fear whenever I ride that something like that is going to happen. You'd think I would have put a brake on by now...
