Date of Ride: June 18
Type of Ride: Solo
Name of organized ride or route: Around Sonoma County (Santa Rosa Randonneurs RUSA Permanent)
Actual Mileage: 136.56
Ride Time: 8:00+?
Total Time: ~9:12
Avg. Speed: 16.3 mph
Altitude Climbed: ~3018 ft
Weather conditions: Foggy and very cool in the morning, sunny and warm (but not hot) in the afternoon. Light winds, but not bad at all.
Synopsis of Ride: This is a RUSA permanent that loops from Santa Rosa to Petaluma down south, west through Tomales towards Dillon Beach, north through Valley Ford, Freestone, Occidental, Camp Meeker, Guerneville, along the river and through the Dry Creek vineyards all the way up to Cloverdale before turning around south to Geyserville, a climb over Chalk Hill, and finally back to Santa Rosa via Old Redwood Hwy. Pastures, vineyards, well maintained country roads - a gorgeous ride. I rented a Trek Madone 4.7 to try out, which was an interesting change of pace from my Salsa Casseroll. Ride report/photos to come soon on my 'blog. You can see the map here.
