I have a pair of the Performance brand campus pedals. Like you, I thought they'd be good for when I just want to jump on and go, but I found that I never ride without my shoes.......ever, so I switched them for a regular clipless pedal. I just don't feel comfortable on open platform pedals anymore. I don't mind unclipping for stopsigns and lights. I'd have to put my foot down regardless and clipping in and out doesn't take THAT much longer than just stepping on.
