The heat of the pavement would soften the rubber of the Kenda tires enough that the air pressure would push the sidewalls through the cords of the tires. I lost some tires that way but was able to avoid any immediate blow outs.
I lived and commuted in both Yuma and Phoenix, never had that problem with Contis.
