I think one thing you should remember to do one your first long ride is to make sure you adequately hydrate and eat. If you don't get adequate fluids/electrolytes/fuel in your body, you're likely to bonk. 60 miles may not be a lot of miles to a lot of guys on this forum but if you've only been riding for 2 weeks, then it will be quite a lot. Your body is likely not used to biking for about 4 hours at a time.
Good Luck! I would say get a small saddle bag and put your emergency supplies in it. My saddle bag contains a spare tube, a CO2 pump with 2 canisters, a multipurpose micro tool and a patch kit. You may think the patch kit is overkill but believe it or not, I have had 2 flats on several occasions. One occasion, I had to borrow a buddy's tube. Another time, I had to call my wife to come pick me up in the car. Since then, I even carry a small hand pump to use in a pinch because on an unlucky day, sometimes 2 CO2 cartridges is not enough.
