By time the RZ stuff came out I was riding TZ's; I did an RZ350 motor for a friend who won a lot of races with it and rode a couple of loaners in stock class as ATM's. Much more civilized than the RD350, which you could make really scary by loading it up with TZ350 parts. I had one that most people wanted to ride...once. Burned up in my house along with my 57 Bel Air.
I remember Ulrich riding a DKW in the 125 production class at Riverside. Leading link fork and all. Cool era where you could trot out all kinds of crazy stuff...Kanemoto's Kwaker triple dirt trackers...Pridmore and his BMW...I won my first road race on a modified XT500 complete with the high fender and tiny front drum brake.
